Well looks like you made a good job of it and it will give you many years of good service ...Nice to have a good project for the winter months when you cannot do anything on the allotment ...

Out of interest, what was the original engine on the 350 and what modification did you do to mount the clutch to  the engine?
thanks

My Howard 350 came with a B & S 6 hp engine with a very ventilated crankcase so I've re-engined it with a Villiers 6.5 hp,made in India, and it goes very well and was a straight swop.

The question I have is.......does anyone out there have a 350 with a centrifugal clutch as I have?and If they have, how user serviceable is it and was it a standard fitment?

Thank you.

John Price,waiting for Sping!

Hi if my memory serves me right all 350 had centrifugal clutches fitted as standard villiers engines were the original ones fitted to all howards then briggs were used on 300 350 700 kohler petrol sachs, hatz diesels on gem supergem then lombardini 10&12hp on howard dragons  jezza

@ smud6ie,..when i got machine it had a honda 300 engine which was knackered hence need to change, think they should have a kohler t 141 or briggs and stratton engine from new but not 100% sure.i cocked up a bit with new engine and got one with 25mm shaft when it should have been 1"so had to put shims round shaft as clutch housing would be to loose.. i made a new plate to hold clutch arm and housing as holes in original plate where in the wrong place to fit new engine otherwise it was a straight swop...

@ john price...i have been looking for centrifugal clutch for a 350,i have seen a 350 machine on ebay that had  one ,i was going to get in touch with the seller but by that time it had been sold so lost name, but they must exist somewhere if you hear where from could you please let me know .

I wanted to say thank you for posting that photo of the Howard 350 with the plow. This seems to be the only place anywhere that type of photo is shown. That is the Howard 350 with the plow attached so I can see how the fitting works.
I bought a Howard 350 with a blown engine and a big pile of attachments. I put a new engine on and got it all working. It's great, but I could not figure out how the plow attachment works, but with your photo I can work it out. Thank you for that.
