Kirklinton in America.
« on: August 29, 2021, 18:49 »
I was born (quite some time ago) in a village called Kirklinton, North of Hadrians wall but 'thankfully' south of the English/Scottish border near Longtown.  After watching "Arial America" on the box with all those English named towns around the East coast, Plymouth etc, I thought "I wonder if there is a Kirklinton in America.

A seemingly simple request, just bung it in Gurgle and away you go, not a sausage, zilch, nada, nowt.  Why is a simple request so difficult to do?

Cheers,  Tony.

P.S. I was born at 5 Farm Cottages Longcleughside 7th December 1949 if anyone is interested
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !

Hi Tony

I also searched without success.

I'm not sure how large a place Kirklinton is now, but if it was really small back when people were settling North America, that may explain the lack of a namesake over here. We have our Plymouths, Yorktowns, Oxfords, even Londons, but it is hit and miss for smaller places over there to have a namesake over here.

Sorry :(

Well, it can only tell you about an American Kirklinton if such a place is recorded. Presumably there isn't  ::)

For what it's worth I'm about 7 months older than you   ::)
