Rotavator advice
« on: January 17, 2012, 06:33 »
Hi ladies and gents I am considering getting my first rotavator but haven't got a clue which one to get. I don't want to spend mega money on one.
I have being looking at mini tillers mainly the einhell but don't know if any good so ur suggestions would be appreciated. I have also considered second hand but cause I don't know much about them I am a bit wary. Look forward to some advice cheers  ::)

Hi, i have a MDT 430 from ebay paid £315 for it great machine...but one of the guys on the plot has a Mantis and its the dogs danglers... i lend it of him some times for doing my beds and its great.... you also get 5 years warranty with it and its a Honda..... in my book you could not go wrong with this machine

The Mantis is a super bit of kit for Tilling.
I've got a similar machine made by Ryobi (nowhere as good as the Mantis) and an Alko (very reasonably priced) for heavier work.

Have you any pictures of it and what make it is ?
That would help in a solution to attaching the wheels

Hi plot 30

I bought an Eckman 2 stroke it is fine on previously dug ground,i use for tilling compost in picked it up on ebay £50 refurbished but like brand new wish i had bought 3 of them now.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200704946396?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

If you looking at virgin ground ,then something with more power i also have this.

It will cut up most ground, but for best results clear the weeds first, readly available on ebay ,try to find one close to where you live so you can view before you buy and pick it up if you win it.Should get for £100 or less, and will last longer than the cheap Chinese ones, most of them are 30-40 years old and still going strong.

I bought this Honda from a chap on the allotment for £100 at the end of last year I used it last summer and when I gave it him back I said give me a shout if you want to sell it wich he did in October. He also has a Einhell which he got from Mow Direct http://www.mowdirect.co.uk/ he did the lower half of my full plot with it last year, its a good rotavator for not a lot of money, told him to give me a shout when he's ready to sell lol
