I have one in our shed at home. They are very good if the shed is pitch dark as on winter mornings at 6.30 am when I get my bike out to go to work. It gives enough light so I don't bang my shins fumbling around without a torch....
But no, they wouldn't be a lot of good if you wanted to DO anything in the shed.

Top of my list would be a good head torch so you have the light where its required.
It may seem strange but I use mine instead of switching on the lights for making early morning tea as well as for working on machinery  etc. I also use it on the tractor which has no lights, works as head and reversing light. ;)
I also bought one for my wife who uses it for sewing .
The one I have and can thoroughly  recommend is rechargeable from mains or usb port, the power of the beam adjusts as does its spread and will also run on AAA batteries if required.
search "led lenser h7r" and sliced bread doesn't come close
