I have two melon plants that I have planted out in a small plot, can they be grown up a trellis if I support the fruit in nets when neccessary?

Is there any kind of feed they might need! They have been planted in new compost and due to the weather have been wwatered very very well!!

Just ordinary tomato feed will do,dont forget to support the fruits when you get some,they do get quite heavy.

old pair of tights usually works as a net.
string it up around the upright supports

Old tights work well aslong the wife isnt wearing them at the time,just string them up like a hammock to support the fruit.

I have kept the nets from baby avacados I have bought from the supermarket that I intend to use to support the fruits. Recycling at it's best!

My family think I am mental but I get a real buzz when I find a new use for throw away items!!!

I have one growing like crazy in our porch. I hope it grows melons, I'm not sure though as it was out of a Morisson's cantaloupe. It's on bits of string at the moment covering about 3' square of wall.
