Title: Hello from West Yorkshire (or as they say round here, Ay up!)
Post by: Milky78 on June 23, 2017, 12:16
Hello all,

Picking up keys to my plot on Monday. Its covered in grass and nettles to 4ft but comes with fences and a shed, so not all bad.

First job will be to strim, discover whats hidden in the grass, try and get some usable space before the end of summer and cover the rest.

Beyond Ebay and the like, where is the best place to go for bits of timber to make raised beds/fence repairs etc and old doors and the like?

I expect to be here as an active user over the coming months. Happy digging!

Mark

Hello Milky and welcome! Your new plot sounds full of potential

You could try local sources like Freecycle for timber etc, but you need to be quick of the mark as there are always lots of takers for that kind of thing

Alternatively you can usually get pallets free and they can be used for all sorts

Hello Mark,
You could look on Gumtree. Enjoy reestablishing your new plot.

Hi Milky, welcome! You many be surprised at what you find left by previous plot holders, once you reduce the weeds - on mine there was some decent wood to make 3 raised beds. Have fun exploring!
