Is there a way to propogate a Acer plant, i want to grow one but dont want to fork out £20 for a plant. Can i take cuttings, or root cutting, or even grafting?

Commercial growers tend to graft Jamie, but you can grow from seed.  I've got a lovely acer that I've grown that way  :)

The thing to be aware of is that you do have to pretreat the seed to get it to germinate.  You can buy pretreated seed, which is what I did, or if you do a google search on pretreatment of japanese acer seeds, you could have a go yourself  :D

This is a very economical way of growing some lovely plants, which you can then shape as you wish  :)
