Is there a way to propogate a Acer plant, i want to grow one but dont want to fork out £20 for a plant. Can i take cuttings, or root cutting, or even grafting?

Commercial growers tend to graft Jamie, but you can grow from seed.  I've got a lovely acer that I've grown that way 

The thing to be aware of is that you do have to pretreat the seed to get it to germinate.  You can buy pretreated seed, which is what I did, or if you do a google search on pretreatment of japanese acer seeds, you could have a go yourself

This is a very economical way of growing some lovely plants, which you can then shape as you wish
