Has anyone grown Bedfordshire Champion Onion and Champion of England Peas?
I can get large quantities of seed for both and am seriously considering growing them this year. The write up says they were both very popular (from Victorian times) but I'd like to make sure before I order 100 - 200 grams of seed each.
95% of my seeds/veggies these days are heirloom and open pollinated, for flavour, vigour and seed saving. So far, I've not been disappointed.

I've got some Bedfordshire Champion onion seeds that I was given, but haven't done anything with them yet!

I grow Bedfordshire champion onions from seed and find them very reliable.  :D

How are the Bedforshires for taste?
Are they better for cooking or just eating?

Has anyone tried Champion of England Peas?

I've grown Bedfordshire Champion on and off for years. As well as their good culinary qualities they are an excellent keeper.
I grow them 4 plants to a cell and plant them out together at a 9" spacing, the resultant crop are medium sized and the overall yield is higher than for single onions. I'm sure that the size of onion I get with this method contributes to their long storage life, in my experience the smaller the onion the longer it keeps.

I popped some info on the peas on your other thread.
A calloused palm and dirty fingernails precede a Green Thumb.

I grow all my seed onions more or less the same way Rob, and I think you are right about keeping longer,  also think they taste better smaller.
