Electric scooters were a plague in Atlanta, Georgia about 3 or 4 years ago. People would use them (rented scooters), then just dump them in the middle of the sidewalk. I felt particularly bad for sight-impaired or mobility impaired pedestrians. If you are navigating sidewalk in a wheelchair, or with a seeing-eye dog and cane, what do you do when you come across a pile of scooters?
Even before COVID, we started to see fewer scooters, I think because of city regulations, but also because I suspect many of those rented scooters were being tossed into skips, or ponds, by pedestrians that had "had enough". You hardly see them anymore.
