Overwintering onions
« on: July 21, 2009, 17:26 »
So the spring planted onions are due out any week now and the over wintering ones have been ordered and due to arrive in early Sept.  What I can't decide is whether to put them in the vacated onion bed or plant them in another bed earmarked for next years alliums.  Crop rotation has me all indecisive yet again.

If you put them in the bed dedicated for next years season, the over wintering variety will be in the wrong place.I.E,over wintering ones will still be in the ground until June at the earliest, while you will want to plant your sets in late march/early april.Hope this makes sense.
