Yes it can turn into a standing around in the kitchen meal, can't it? :D

I'm doing scotch pancakes with butter and jam or honey for about 15 people this year but we normally do the thin pancakes with lemon and sugar.

I carry around a 'jif' lemon in case we have 'crepes' - not quite the same without the lemon - Get odd looks though!
My boys love  Bannofee - ( Banana with Confiture du lait)
Crepe Suzette for me though :-)

Yum yum   :D

I may also have to have some of the chocolat ancienne (warm pure melted chocolate) and possibly some Genepi.   :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Alps, just up from Annecy, in between La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand.  They've had nice dumps of snow in the last couple of weeks so hoping for a perfect week of good ground conditions (and piste conditions) but some lovely March sunshine.

Genepi is an alcoholic drink, usually a liquor, made from some of the local alpine plants.  It tastes fruity, flowery and with a hint of honey but isn't that sweet.  It has the habit of making you fall over though if you enjoy it too much as it's pretty powerful stuff!

I remember always having the 'Jubilee Pancakes" at Little Chef - Black Cherry Pie filling with vanilla Ice Cream.. yummy ( when I was 10!!!!) May go for fresh or canned cherries rather than the pie filling though!

Certainly sounds different.  Have a great time - On and off piste!

OH just told me he ate 13 pancakes one shrove tuesday when he was a lad  that will explain why he can't see his feet anymore.  Kids desperate to have them with golden syrup, I quite like the sound of banana and chocolate, he wants cheddar cheese and chocolate.

Put out all the choices on the worktop, start frying, leave them to fill their own!!  Let your budding chefs try cheese & golden syrup if they want - they won't die of it & will learn from the experience!!  Call it teaching decision making.......or encouraging self-expression.....never admit it's 'cos you can't face saying "no you can't" one more time.

Speaking from the land of maple syrup, you can guess what I'll be topping my pancakes with. That and couple of raspberries.

this year is slightly different; rather than make my usual crepes batter, I'll be adding some finely sieved ricotta cheese and Meyer lemon juice (sweeter than regular lemons) to the batter, and then topping them with syrup and raspberries. Can't wait!

I'm the only one in our house that likes pancakes so I have just read this thread with a slight pang of envy (and a rumbly tummy!)...

Sigh!
