Brussel sprout tops
« on: February 27, 2011, 11:42 »
Just ventured down to the veg plot, as the sun was shining.
Brussels which were not very successful were left in the ground last autumn & have started to grow at the top and are sending out new tops.
Can I cook these new growths?
If so, would I just do them like cabbage?
I started out with nothing.....and I've still got most of it.

Best part of the plant.

Nice steamed.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Wow, that was quick.
Thanks DD. Came on here first (as you do) but have googled the subject and got a few ideas - like sauteed with olive oil and garlic.
That's tonight's veggies sorted, as long as I can convince She who must be obeyed that they are actually edible!

We've just eaten our sprout tops with roast dinner.  Family don't like sprouts so I told them it was cabbage and (surprisingly) it was all eaten!  Bending the truth again but still can't get them to eat kale!

I have picked some today to go with my liver, bacon and onions.  They are the BEST greens  :D

I`d certainly agree with that, Aunt Sally. :D
I`m left handed, what`s your excuse?
