What could go wrong?

Our sweetcorn crop is very 'underated'.  I may have been lax in pumping in the water during the year so what could go wrong if at this late stage I now add copious amounts of H2O?

I'm not sure what you mean by underrated.  If the plants are showing signs of "old age", such as leaves or stalks turning yellow or brown, or have formed ears that are not good, the extra water will not help.

However, the only risk is that you will face is the expense of pumping water that may not be helpful, and the associated cost
