They've been mentioned in forum threads a couple of times in the past year. You could do a forum search. :)

Here you are Tom. It's in the British potato database. Just scroll down to it.

Those are the search results I was returned before I posted. Did you run the search from inside your post or from the gyo board, or even from the top main board level? The British potato variety database is very useful for very basic information about each variety, but personal experiences are always useful to hear.

Just had a look at my bag of Tossco spuds and sure enough they are "Melody", grown in Lincolnshire by "Jon Cobb" (good Christian name IMHO!)

I've actually found them quite versatile. I don't very often get too excited about the actual flavour of potatoes, and remembering some of the taverna recommendations we used to try after chatting to fellow holidaymakers in Greece I wouldn't necessarily take much notice of anyone's opinion, which sometimes included my own when a second visit wasn't quite as good as the first, but that was all part of the Greek charm!

For those who want to avoid growing varieties popular with the supermarkets as a matter of principle I agree that the British Potato Database is a damn good read and informative too.  :)

I too have bought Melody from the supermarket and think the post about that will be in one of those search results. In any case, I found they had a sweet flavour and didn't like them.

I was given a "glowing" report of them at a farmers market by the farmer who grew them.
I never thought to ask if he supplied Tesco.
I had never heard of them and wondered if anyone had experience of them.
My search was by putting melody in the box marked search on the page.
