Just eaten our first sweet corn (first of the year and first ever :) )

im in the north east and think some of mine are going to be ready very shortly the tassles are just starting to turn brown and i cant wait

Congrats on sweet corn - I can't wait mine are coming on slowly, but then I'm in Northern Ireland - I might take a sun lamp down too speed things up - thats if the rain stops lol

They have done very well (to my inexpert eye ;) ) and taste great.
We had a month of really hot weather, and thats whats made the difference I think, but have been watering every 3 days.
Cant take any credit for them though: it was Madame who sowed them: I told her not to bother because they never come to anthing :blush: :blush: :blush:
Will definitely do them again next year, especially cos we dont often get them in the shops round here.

I grew a small block in the greenhouse. They were very good, recommended! I planted Swift which are quite short, so they only got to about 5' - unlike the old fashioned varieties that would have lifted the roof!
