Worming with flubenvet.
« on: October 10, 2010, 15:38 »
Please could some one clarify for me which Flubinvet should be used and why. !5 or 2.5%. Would it be that the 2.5% is used in smaller quantities.

2.5% is sold in large packs 250g and is usually used for large flocks.

1% is sold in 60g packs and is intended for small backyard flocks - it is however, more expensive.

Thanks for your reply Aunt Sally. I have a small large flock of 40 hens and the 1% seems fairly pricey for that many hens so I will probably go down the 2.5% rout. Would you or anyone else know how much to administer of the 2.5%? I 'get' the measurements for the 1% but don't have a clue for the 2.5%.

They only seem to do it in 20kg bags so it would depend on how many hens you have.

I think it should feed about 30 hens for a week.  Any left over would be wasted as you'd probably not need it for another 6 months and by then it would be out of date.

Thank you

I only have a few, so I'll stick to the normal stuff.  Cheaper too! Mind you, my girls know all there is too know about filling their beaks, anything that can't whizz away is soon lunch.

I have read somewhere that you can now only buy the 1% stuff as you need a mixing licence for the 2.5% one......

Might have imagined it though ;)
I love Pekins, Polands and Seramas :) and eggs!!!

You can get both.  A mixing licence is no longer required.
