Title: Blackcurrent and redcurrent wine recipes please
Post by: fallen angel on June 01, 2015, 18:22
Hi guys I moved last summer and have inherited some redcurrent and blackcurrent bushes. I don't eat jam and these are fruits that went to waste last year so thought this year I would try some wine?

I need a simple step by step guide/recipe please. I have meant to make my own wine for the last lord only knows how many years and have just never got around to it so I think I have all the equiptment just need to dig it out and steralise everything and wait for the fruit to ripen :-) I have also inherited rhubarb so will hopefully be using that this year too :-)

Many thanks

I've never managed to get enough blackcurrants to do a 'pure' blackcurrant wine... This recipe looks pretty straightforward:

Good luck and let us know how you get on (with whatever recipe you end up choosng)

Hic hic,

I always leave in the demijohn after racking for months and months or until I either need the demijohn or run out of wine. Only add a campden to stop a wine as it kills yeast.
