I use poultry pellets and find them very good.  Remember you shouldn't plant for two weeks after spreading them around.  Onions in particular are very partial.

That's good to know, I was about to plant my shallots so I'll hang on and get some pellets first

I'd feed shallots when they've started to "split and form lots of other shallots  :D  and onions when they start bulbing up. Or is that just me  :D

Blood fish and bone is good too - cheap in Wilkos. Slow-release.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Add it to your compost heap and mulch with it when rotted down.

Foxes dogs etc do have an attraction to chicken poo.
WOuldnt use a high N feed during winter tho, to much green growth in the cold is bad.

Well you could if you have money to waste. Nitrogen does not stay in the soil for long, all benefit will be gone before you plant the ground again.

Oh dear, I added this whilst planting out my runners and french beans at the weekend   Should I dig them up and re-plant or will they be ok?

I'ev also added it to the top of some pots (herb pots, broad beans, garlic etc) as a boost - problem??!

I'm talking about fresh chicken manure not pellet stuff.  Sorry if that caused a confusion

Ah phew, I'm using the organic pellets.  I am, however, concerned that horse manure I added at the start of the season wasnt well enough rotted and dug in - there's some yellowing on my lettuces and calbrese.  You live and learn I gues...
