How do you know when Tomatillo is ripe?
« on: September 23, 2013, 10:36 »
Hello,
Have grown a couple of Tomatillo plants on allotment. Have found that leaving the fruit inside the case until the case has dried up results in mushyish tomatillos. However the ones I've picked that aren't mushy seem a little under ripe. Does anyone have any ideas? ???

I think it is a matter of picking them when you like the flavour best.  I prefer them green and acidic and I think they work quite well in a salsa at that stage, so I pick them when they just burst their little covers and are still green.

Thanks, have not tried them yet. I was planning to use them in a salsa of some sort as well :)
