Chickens and shade cover
« on: June 28, 2019, 11:13 »
Just a reminder as we are set for a mini heatwave.  Chickens are descended from jungle fowl, who are forest dwellers, so as well as lots of clean drinking water, shade is very important to your birds for their comfort and wellbeing.  They will react themselves and sit more and watch the world go by.  If you see them panting with their beaks open, they are really feeling it.

I have a camouflage net I attach to the run wire of my big run and the Eglu run has a full shade cover.  If yours are confined in a run, please make sure you have adequate shade in there  :)

Good points NS, I’m pleased we went with the onduline roofing for ours, rain & sun proof.
