Stopping her being broody
« on: August 07, 2012, 16:00 »
Hi my amber star has now been broody for 5 days and its time to try and break the broodiness, I am collecting a dog crate tomorrow and I would like to know if I am doing things right, so I will put her in the cage with food and water then do I leave her in it overnight and continue til she becomes her lovable self?Or do I take her out when I am home so I can shut the pop hole so she doesn't get on the nest but she can run around?  I must say she looks adorable all puffed up like a giant pillow!(only with a sharp beak) All this time she has no eggs under her which I think is a bit weird, any help appreciated thankyou. :)

not weird at all - they often sit on nothing.
If you have her crate in a secure area where it is protected from strong winds, rain and predators (they may not be able to get to kill her but it will frighten her) then you can leave her in it, if not then just place her in it during the day.
Staffies are softer than you think.

OK will put her in it during the day, she is protected from predators but as we have so much rain at the moment can't risk leaving her out, glad shes not weird though!:) thankyou hope this works for her, otherwise I may be tempted for her to have little ones (except the thought of all the cockerals puts me off)thanks again :)
