what sort of incubator have you got? I have one of those 40 quid ones from ebay and Im on day 19 today, ive cut a sponge thats about 4x3 inches in half and put them in after rinsing in warm water humidity goes upto about 80% then drops to nearer 50% after a few hours when I change the sponge again.

hope this helps

Don't like to invade the poultry area as I know nothing but I thought I'd share with you what we used to do with the pheasants:
3 Times a day we'd open the small lid (see through as I recall) of the incubator and give it a good spray with a spray bottle, this kept the rH up just above 70%.

You may all already do that though, I don't know, so I'll just slink back off to the veg section  :D

Bear in mind it is the surface area of the available water that can affect the humidity. Ie the larger the surface area the more humidity it should provide :)

I was reading this thread regarding humidity, I have made a tobacco kiln that the humidity needs to be kept at 70% for 28-35 days dependent on what you have in the kiln, What you should use is a vary small fan which blows over a damp wicked cloth, when you get it set up correctly it should stay constant, you will need a vent on the top of the incubator.

I am looking at making my own incubator you can get the temperature and humidity controllers for about £30 what I am interested in is how often you need to turn the eggs
Hope that this is of help
