Yesterday i notice one of my hens walking around picking up sticks and leaves and trying to put them on her back very funny to see 

any ideas ?

Thanks Aunt sally, it's starting to get cold at night here in the west of Ireland.
This winter will be my first with hens,  is there anything i need to do to get ready for the snow, the hen coop is well insulated walls floor and roof.

don't insulate their coop too much - they do have their own feather duvets. Make sure there is adequate ventilation in the coop

I have a window with a flap that I close at night and a vent at the back

It is worth oil, grease or siliconinining any catches, locks or hinges while they are dry.
If they fill with water and freeze it can be a struggle to open up on a frosty morning.
The hens can handle the cold as long as they are dry and out of any draughts.
