One of my hens laid this egg yesterday, it is soft shelled and has a cord at each end.
I have had one or two soft shelled eggs before but never with the cord attached.
They always have plenty of grit and free range most of the time - so get plenty of greens.
I dont think that the hen responsible has laid an egg today, but she appears to be quite happy, eating and drinking normally.
Can anybody tell me whats going/gone wrong.

I've seen eggs similar to that one in the coop in the morning. Sometimes they're sort of leathery.

I don't think it can be anything to worry about if it's not a regular occurrence: just some sort of glitch in the process.
