I have red mite again, and you could to.
I took my removable perches off as I do once or twice a week and found them skulking.
This particular coop has not been used for nearly 5 months and is now being inhabited for 2 weeks by now 7 week old chicks.

Mine are Frontlined, I clean with Poultrysheild and use Diatom in bedding and all corners.
Still find the odd mite when searching for them

There are three signs of old age. The first is your loss of memory, the other two I forget.

It can help when checking for red mite to fold a piece of white paper and put it into any cracks and crevices wiggle it about and if it has red marks on when you take it out you probably have red mite. They are difficult to spot. I know I ould not be able to see them without my specs, which I don't wear to the yard as I am always afraid of the horses breaking them.
Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted!!

I check at night, with a torch as they are active at night on the hunt for chicken blood. ;) All my perches are removable plus the ends are glossed white so any red smears will flag red mite quickly, luckily haven't had an outbreak only a small infestation last year in a brand new broody ark which I had forgotten to spray, red mite love new wood! >:(

I check every day wen I poo pick but I know they are really hard to see. I sometimes lift the ends of the perches for a look.

Good luck with it Rough.
