Hi All

Am I under feeding my chooks ( I don't know how.... ) After picking them up last night and being able to feel there breast bone I think they might be under fed. I'm feeding them layers pellet's chopped maize and other bit's and bobs they are growing fine so why can I feel the breast bone. Am I missing something from there diet. They are about 20 weeks now

I reckon they will be just fine Jim, you don't want them too fat else they won't lay.

You don't say what breed they are. If they are a modern laying hybid (Warrens,  Isa etc.), they are bred to be skinny.  :o

20 weeks is young anyway and they won't be fully filed out.

Layers will never be plump like a table bird.  Fit and active is all you need !

I'd wondered just this thing myself as my hybrids tend to be on the lean side, whereas the Light sussex and my fat ol' Buff Orp are on the chunkier side!
