A bloke that was selling an incubator today said that in this country is is not really required to increase humidity except in the last 3 days of incubation. He suggested that i should run the incubator dry until then.

This seems different to information i have read on the subject, anyone have any ideas?

That is what I have found - in my less than a week experience! Humidity is running 50-60% just due to weather at the min. We havent needed to add water to get that high but are keeping an eye on it in case it drops

The incubator i am getting does not have a humidity gauge on it so not sure how to play that?

I bought a humidity gauge from SPR cost about £6.00. I am having to put water in one tray, not full, just a bit as it was dropping to 40 without. I suppose it depends on the incubator as the humidity outside was great but not inside it

I think I've said this on here before, but the humidity in the UK has risen greatly in the last 30 or 40 years so that the instructions for running many incubators have gone out of date. The advice you were given IMO is correct.

In my opinion - no you are not forum retarded, it took me ages to work them out at well.  there is a website you can go on to tell you what they all mean, but to be honest life's too short
