I recently brought some Cochins with a view to putting some fertile eegs under then at some point as i am told that they are good mothers. It has however, occured to me that these new chooks will not have been vaccinated as a POL chook would have been. Are there any risks to health if i go down this road? Particularly concerned as our eggs are eaten by my young children.

Any advice would be appreciated..

you'll be fine. it costs way to much to vaccinate when you only have a few, as doses are sold in 1000's.

i spoke to my vet when i first got my chickens, his wife has chickens and even they dont vaccinate.

There are major risks in large flocks but a few back yard hens carry very minute risks  :!:
