Does anyone here give their chickens raw garlic? I've read on here that you can put garlic granules in with the feed. The reason I ask is because I was going to put a clove in their water (just for one day as a boost) and one of the chickens just grabbed it and swallowed it. It was only half a small clove and the others were after me for the rest. I gave it to them in little pieces making sure that all six had some. Will it taint the eggs? Is it not a good idea?

mine do that all the time, quick aren't they  I put a clove in the water and they usually pick it out when i empty it to refill it

I havent noticed the eggs tasting funny

makes the water smell of garlic!!. I slice mine up. They also leave it to grow in the garden.

Too much garlic will taint the eggs but from others experience on here I think you would have to feed a lot

Just put about a quarter of a teaspoon full of garlic granules ( by it from a horsey place/ feed merchant). The birds will happily gobble up the water plumped granules when you tip the old water out. I've never had a problem with tainted eggs.
