A few years ago our local council were introducing compost bins for food waste.

Not veg peelings etc but proper food waste, bones included.

You had to have it dug down into the ground so far.

I gave it a miss.  Im sure it was thought out and calculated properly but until they sort out the fox problem I wont participate. I dont want to encourage them, and i'm not sure how far down foxes dig.

its Thursday, the binmen come today, as told by the council, bins were left outside last night, no bags, lids shut on the bins, this morning they have been raided by the foxes, and everything scattered, the bin men come, followed by the road sweepers, same performance everytine

I'm glad these foxes raid the bins rather than try and get into my hens

The magpies are trying to get to the chicks I have hatched though

Seems there is a lot stacked against these chickens

I would have thought it would be cheaper to cull these foxes, catch and kill or catch and release, they do that with any rats (I think foxes arent much different from rats, both are vermin)

Some people have lost cats, but noone is sure if its the foxes, but many suspect it due to the carcass's found
It's all about the journey, not the destination

Put it on a couple of bricks or it may not just be hot/warm  'treats' that you heat up  ;)

You have made me laugh this morning Pepsi

My lot would be beside themselves if I set up a special chicken kitchen  :D  Do you have chickens clamouring with expectation when that hexy burner goes on.  Mine would be flinging themselves at the wire in excitement

Brilliant bit of sideways thinking mind  ;)  There's always a way round these things when you put your mind to it  :)

They dont actually throw themselves at the fence, but they do get excited, when they see the foil trays, mind you that happens whenever I go into the garden, I always threow a handful of corn for them

The hexy is a remant from my time in the forces and firelighters for them can stiull be bought, and there is no washing up after, the foil trays are pecked clean
