I have just found my first egg from my Pekins and I am so proud. I really didn't think they would start to lay until the spring so was really surprised. My girls are about 28 weeks old now and I don't know which of the three laid it, she didn't use the nest box, she laid it in the run, all three seemed to be standing over it on guard so I picked it up quite quickly. Two questions really, is a first egg ok to eat and secondly, I haven't wormed them yet, I've heard that the best time is when there is a full moon as the worms are more active is that true? Happy New Year to everyone, this is a great forum, I have learned such a lot. :D

You can eat first eggs, the problem is how to cook them, poached, scrambled, boiled? :)

Congrats - enjoy your egg :D
If you are going to use Flubenvet to worm (the only really effective option) it will kill the nasty little blighters whatever the moon is up to :)
