Title: hen identification

dear folks

can anyone help me to identify this hen
she is a big bird and lays almost every day a pinky brown egg of the large medium variety
she is a vigous bird and friendly (unless you want to pick er up that is)
any ideas would be gratefull.
I was thinking she was a new hampshire red but she does not have yellow feet in fact they are plain ol white and she has black speck around her neck.

Could be a hybrid something like a Goldline and the fact that she's still laying suggests a hybrid as well.

and although there is no picture of one like yours at the moment they did have some with the black tail feathers just like yours sometime ago.

Check out the web sites of a few sellers.  I'm sure you will find one like her.

Columbian Blacktail I reckon, but with something else mixed in?  Mine don't have the speckles on the neck, but is only a few months old.

I thought Colombian Blacktails were only farmed by Waitrose-linked farmers ---or  am I dreaming this  :ohmy: :ohmy:

Hi, I thought it was just that Columbian blacktails were one of the chicken breeds that Waitrose chose for their eggs due to taste, size etc.  If you go to the waitrose website there is a lot of info on their eggs and chooks.   :happy:

Apparently you can get Columbian Blacktails, but many are bred and reared purely for Waitrose.  The hatchery we use have them, but they wouldn't let us hae any day olds as they are all for the people who supply waitrose.

I have seen them advertised, but can't remember which website it was.
