Title: are they cockerels

hi,just  been given 7 chicks,about 1wk old. 2 have brownish down on their backs, the others are just plain. Am i right in thinking the plain ones are male.

Hi  depends on the breed, some breeds the cockerel is darker but some are very hard to sex until they are older - we have 12 week old silkies and still keep changing our minds.
