well i thought id make this a bit different as its my 100th post.
So heres my pumpkins that ive managed to grow this year., (2litre bottle for scale)

Im really happy with the size of these,i`m hoping that they may get a bit larger as well, but we desperatly need a bit of sun down here to help ripen them.

thanks for the replies everyone.
the pumpkins are atlantic giant.the time from flower to that size is about 6-8 weeks i think.
I had to play cupid and hand pollanate the female flowers, only got 3 to grow form 2 plants, lost over 40 odd i reckon.

the 1st pic shows a fruit from a plant that is planted in a mass of 3yr homemade compost.
but the 2nd pic shows friut from a plant that is planted in the soil on the plot.
there was no visable difference to the plant(health wise), rate of growth was the same and it seems the size of fruit is the same.
the only difference is the one on/in the compost managed 2 pumpkins and the main stem was green,
whilst the other had one fruit and a yellow main stem.
I reckon the amount of fruit is down to the bad weather and not being pollenated.nothing to do with what it was planted in.
so in my little experiment i dont think that planting in lots of compost did anything at all.
