Small patch.......

Hi
New to growing veg.
I will be turning a small patch of the garden (6m x1.5m) into a veg growing area.
I have read that the idea is that you rotate cops around an allotment to help the soil.
With such a small area do I need to think about splitting it into quarters and rotating what is grown in each quarter?

All advice and comments appreciated.

When you harvest something, don't plant the same thing in exactly the same place. Simples.

Thanks Lesley.......................very logical.

I have removed the flags covering the small patch and now have what resembles a long jump landing pit............with a layer of sand....above the soil.

Is it okay to dig the sand into the soil or is it best to remove as much sand as possible?

Yes you can dig it in as long as its not a foot of sand.. !! Dig it in along with some manure. You can intensively grow quite a lot of stuff in that area. I used to grow 1000 onions in tubs on my rooftop spaced 3-4" apart and they grew really well. Dont grow stuff that takes up a lot of space i.e. potatoes as they are cheap as chips to buy as well..

google square foot gardening it will give u useful tips on growing in small areas...basically its about dividing the growing area into 1 square foot and growing a different veggie in each...some good reading and your tube videos online...
