Morrisons bargains
« on: March 30, 2010, 13:04 »
Popped there today and noticed they had some fruit trees for £5 (apples, cherry and pear). They may not be the best specimens but worth a shot at that price. They also have those lawn edging log rolls for £2.80 or two for £4.50 which was a bit of a bargain I thought! Thought I would share

Also look under the flowers section, they sell 10 or so flower buckets for £1. Perfect for growing tomatoes and chillies in, once you have drilled a few drainage holes in.

Yes they got good bargains. I got offered some pepper & aubergine seeds a couple of month ago & about 99% of the seeds have sprouted.

Anyone know Where do I find the 10p Flower pots? Are they with the flowers or with the gardening stuff? I plan to call in tonight. Sadgit in his post suggests they are with the flowers but I have never seen them. Perhaps they have sold out whenever I have looked for them in the past.

They are often UNDER the stand where the flowers are. might be 8 for £1 now that  think about it. If they don't have any out, ask someone and they should get you some.

Just as an aside, the Coop give away their flower buckets for free if you ask. That's what all my courgettes, aubergines and tomatoes will be living in this summer  :D

At my co-op, I asked ages ago and they gave me a few from out the back, and said if there were ever any empty ones on the display stand that I could just take them...so I often do :)

Our local Morrisons don't have/use the black buckets only green plastic vase shaped pots-I asked the other day if they sold any and was told 'ooh no'  :(
