F1 Swift Sweetcorn Seeds
« on: April 25, 2009, 02:29 »
Well I bought these in bulk and got lots spare.

Bought 500 and can only sow 30 a year max

Apparently it's a lovely corn - supersweet and tender too. I can't verify, growing them for the first time myself this season. But via the chitting method I've had 100% germination, so seed is good.

If anyone would like to try some please pm :)

(I don't want anything in return)

Moles by any chance?

Thanks for the offer, but I've only just finished the packet of the same variety I bought 2 years ago!

They will keep a few years & if you use the chitting technique you're not wasting compost, but yes, I gave a lot of mine away, but still cost-effective compared to buying packets of 30.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Hi IWAA, I would love some of your sweetcorn seeds please!  Will happily pay postage, are you sure you don't want anything in return?

I thought I had enough sweetcorn, but when I looked there were only 10 seeds left in my packet.  Will PM you with my addy!      Many thanks      Ann

Yes DD, they were Moles  :D

And yes, I paid less for 500 seeds from Moles than I'd been paying for 20 (identical seeds) on eBay!

So plenty for me, and plenty to share.

Grannie I've PM'd, and no I don't want anything for them (but thanks for offering  :) )

Not sure if they will work up here, even in in my sheltered garden, most people would consider it a windy place, but worth a go, again more than happy to pay postage.

PM on it's way.

Hello,

I've been using this website for a few months now since getting an allotment, but this is the first posting I've placed. I would be interested in some corn seeds, may I pay for the postage and offer something else instead?

Best, Undala

Hello Undala, and welcome! I'm glad my corn seeds tempted you out of hiding

Please PM me your name/address (click on the squiggly green thing to the left of this box) & they'll be in the post to you on Monday.

Please don't put your address up here on the public forum  ;)

Just one point to note re postage. Since the Royal Mail re-structured their pricing, the thickest letter you can send with a normal stamp is 5mm. Sweetcorn may be borderline.

You may need a "large letter" stamp - 61p to cover this, just double check before sending out, as the recipient has to pay the excess plus £1.

I know DD, from when I sent the beans out last month.
My post office checks all this for me when posting luckily, so I just leave it to them.

But thank you for reminding  :)

Good reminder - I just had to go to the post office and pay an extra £1.08 for an envelope containing an SAE someone sent me for seeds to post on.

I'd very much like a few to try if there are any left? Is there anyhing you are looking for in terms of swaps - I may have something in my seed box?

Will PM you.

Have PM'd back scabs, you got the last lot  :)

I'm very sorry but these are all gone now, I have only enough left for myself for next season.

Everyone who has asked, they'll be in tomorrow's post  ;)

So you're the one
I have just ben sent a substitute of Lark F1 because my supplier says there is a national shortage of Swift F1.
Still good of you to offer and whilst I am fixed up now I will note that a lot of people (incl DD) think Moles are good for seeds and will look at them next time
