Where are you?

It is going to need heat so you are going to get something to keep it warm. In the short term a basic table lamp over a box will do but it is not really the best thing for it and if you can get a heat lamp you should. If you are near me you could borrow mine. They will need non medicated chick crumb available ad lib which I am assuming you have already got and water available all the time.

I line my brooder (which is just one of those big plastic starage boxes) with old towels for the first couple of days as they can bee tempted to eat the bedding while they are getting used to the world and it can cause obstruction. I then move onto hemcore bedding which is the same thing my adult ducks are on.

The other thing it is really going to need is at least one companion. Ducks are very sociable animals and do not do well without a friend. It doesn't need to be a muscovy, any duckling will do.

That's the basics. Once they are sorted you can worry about the rest later.
Be like a duck. Calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath.

other members on here have suggested a heat pad or a hot water bottle. I also liked Sarahs idea of a cuddly toy for the little one to cuddle up to, especially as she is on her own.
Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted!!

How did she get on with Mum, Shelley? Any improvement or have you had to take her inside?
