Nasturtiums .
Cheap, cheerful, bright, easy to grow, will climb, self-seeding, edible..... Shall I go on?  :)

Courgette or pumpkin - trails, nice flowers and eatable "fruits". Or runner beans for same reasons. Simples.

Clematis are very nice; they'll attach to anything, believe me. they'll even crawl on the ground if they can't climb.

When we planted some seeds with a view to eating the flowers etc, some more experienced gardeners round here seemed to be of the opinion that they would take over! They haven't managed that yet (but they are doing very well even in our harsh conditions) and they do give a nice splash of colour....

I'm with Richard. Pumpkin would trail over your compost heap, Giving wonderful yellow flowers and then the yummy pumpkins :D
I may take my time.....but i'll get there in the end.

I was alway taught that 'you gotta be nasty to nasturtiums' - nice rich ground and they grow like topsy, with all leaves and no flowers.  In harsher conditions, they flower more.  Logical I guess, focus on continuing the species.  Which would explain why they do well in your garden, but roots in the bottom of a compost heap could make for runaway plants!  I'd go for climbing squash, pumpkin or courgette and make the best of all those lovely nutrients.

Don't know about planting to hide a compost bin, but last year we planted marrow on top of ours and we got loads of fruit of it, the compost was quite young and not ready to be spread, as we had spare marrow plugs we thought we might as well try it, summat for nowt i suppose

I grow comfrey round my compo bins, lovely flowers and no distance to walk to get the leaves in the bins. Sorted  :)
