I'd say it was a courtship dance but I doubt it...
I don't know what this is all about - as if she's trying to get food to pass from her peck to her stomach (I'm guessing here). Fit as a flea otherwise...
Already massaged her peck.. feels a bit squashy..
Any suggestions?

sounds like sour crop
-
I had impacted crop once nerdle and I fed her live maggots - seemed to work
think sour crop is different but I'm no expert - joyful and sassy are brilliant at health issues
I'm sure they will answer if they see this

One vet visit later... not sour crop yet but just indigestion- it should go through. 'Let her scratch in the dirt with the others' and that's it.
Her breath doesn't smell great.... hope she gets drinking - vet says plain water is best.
-
Next day and no improvement... she seems happy enough but massive sqaushy peck. Apple cider vinegar in water and will get her some live yoghurt.

found this topic on here nerdle http://chat.allotment-garden.org/index.php?topic=4345.0
some useful advice maybe

Thank you so much - I did see that and I find the Omlet Q&A page helpful as well.
She is much the same but seems happy - laying etc etc. The vet tells me it will be OK - just have to hope so and hang in there.
Amazed that they like yoghurt and will eat it!!!!!
-
3 days later....and ......no change. Second vet opinion sought and two vets tell me 'if she seems fine etc - leave it'........
-
A few days later and.... crop reduced in size but she did not look happy this morning - another vet visit - a shot of vitamins and 'let nature take its course'....... Got her some live maggots - not interested... She skulked under the shrubs out of sight not eating and I was in a panic - rang another vet who advised apple cider vinegar for sourcrop (I know that's wrong as it's acidic) so not confident there.
A hen keeping neighbour tells me they used to syringe cod liver oil into the crop - let it loosen then sick it up- done! Soo.. in desperation off to Lloyds Pharmacy to get some CLO - I said it was for my hen - point blank refused to sell it to me! I insisted it was for me but they still said 'no'. Got some at Waitrose then home to find her scratching dirt with the others. Now happy to wolf down the maggots (thank you Barley) so hoping they will sort her out over night.
Read a long forum thread this am - she had treid it all and hen nearly died but concluded the maggots fixed it.
Phew! Hope this is it now.

well done

oh I do hope she will be ok
horrid I know but maggot goes into crop live and as you know they thrive on decaying matter so I guess they do that in the crop before they get digested themselves ewwww
it worked for mine so keeping everything crossed for you xx
