Total Harvest for 2011
« on: March 18, 2012, 21:59 »
As this was my first full year with an allotment plot I thought I would record everything I grew on the plot and in the garden.

The only things in the garden were the apples and redcurrants, tomatoes and herbs.  The rest was grown on 1 allotment plot.  A good base to see if I improve next year, but quite pleased.

It goes like this:

Apples (cooking) 7.255 kg
Cabbage (Precoce de Louviers) 6.130 kg
Cabbage (Drumhead) 10.33 kg
Red Cabbage (Ruby King) 1.92 kg
Red Cabbage (Rouge Tete Noir) 11.005 kg
Fennel (Colossal) 1.1 kg
Red Giant Celery 2.735 kg
Parsnips (Tender and True) 1.125 kg
Leeks (Bleu de Solaise) 8.36 kg
Onions (Turbo) 15.035 kg
Cavolo Nero 2.655 kg
Tomatoes (Stupice) 3.870 kg
Tomatoes (Aurora) 3.210 kg
Tomatoes (Gardener's Delight) 0.740 kg
Courgette (Nero di Milano) 4.035 kg
White patty pan squash (45g - only 1 pathetic!)
Yellow patty pan squash (220g - 4 - pathetic!)
Runner Beans (The Czar) 8.06 kg
Climbing pole bean (Cherokee Trail of Tears) 3.79 kg
Rhubarb 450g (1st year)
Swede (Joan) 905g
Winter Squash (Buttercup) 2.1kg
Turnips (Navet de Nancy) 920 kg
Pak Choi - 1kg
Beetroot (Sanguina) - 4.41kg
Strawberries - 1.94 kg
Peas - 2.995 kg
Carrots - 1.685 kg
Cucumber - miniature white - 17
Leaf Beet - 975g
Japanese bunching onions - 16
Webb's Wonder lettuce - 10
Rocket - 5 portions
flat leaved parsley - 11 bunches
broad beans - 3.90 kg
Potatoes - Tuskar 1st earlies - 8.15kg
Potatoes - Edgecote Purple - 14.12 kg
Bronze Arrowhead lettuce - 11
Shallots - Jermor - 380g (rubbish result)
Basil - 1 bunch, a feeble result
Coriander - 1 bunch, never get far with this.
Redcurrants - 2.930 kg
Grandpa Admire's lettuce - 6
Radish - 6 - I can't grow these for love nor money
Garlic (Marco) - 12 bulbs

Wow! How did you keep up with all of that?! I'm impressed.

I too had a bountiful year, and the mice, slugs, chafer grubs and vine weevils were most pleased with me. Occasionally my family and neighbours were glad too.

Hope this year's as good!

I make that about 3 plants (you've obviously never dropped one on your foot!)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

Well spotted!  It was actually 920 g of turnips, not 920 kg.  That would have been an awful lot of turnips.  920 g was not nearly enough.

Mind you, much as I like cabbage, there was too much of that.  I was given a couple of trays of cabbage plants though, and I find it hard to turn down free stuff.

I am really chuffed with this the first full year and I am sure I can do better.

The sweetcorn never made it to a crop despite lots of sturdy plants, so lots of room for improvement.
