ALLOTMENTS
« on: December 24, 2011, 16:54 »
Had letter from city council saying they are looking at allotments in the city and have hired consultants to look at the provision of them.  A number of meetings have been arranged with allotment holders.  Am I right in saying that the government intends, or has already, removed the statutory requirement of councils to provide allotments?  I suspect the council has already decided on a course of action and the consulltations are just boxes to be tickes

It has been confirmed previously on the Forum, that the Government does not intend to remove the provision of allotments from the Councils.

I hope they don't change it. We are desperately trying to get our council to provide more ground as we have over 2,000 on the waiting lists for 14 sites.

Oldham.

We've just created an extra five plots on our site and they were snapped up.
