Wenks Yellow? Hot chilli
« on: August 23, 2011, 11:45 »
eeerrrrr I may be missing something here, but my Wenks Yellow Hot chilli are turning red   I've tried picking one when they are still yellow but the seem under-ripe to me at this stage.  Anyone else tried these?

The unripe Wenks is a yellowy green (hence the Yellow) but does ripen to red.
I've grown them before, but personally prefer Hungarian Hot Wax which is similar but with a little more flavour in my opinion.

If you want a nice chilli that is bright yellow when ripe, I would highly recommend Hot Lemon (sometimes called Aji Limon).

They're a bit hot for slicing and putting in a sandwich/salad though.  ;)

Not as hot as the Trinidad Scorpion Mouruga Yellow's I'm planning on growing next season! (Although the TSMY's probably not as hot as the Dorset Naga's that I have ripening currently, but I can live with that  )

Still slightly confused about the name of these chillies   Wouldn't you think Wenks Red Hots would be better  ;)
