Hi everybody, Has anyone got what we have on our site. Most tomatoe plants have either gone black in the stems or look like they are completely drained of moisture.In just the last 3 days many plot holders have simply dug 'em up and lost their crop. Any anwsers would be graetly appreciated

What's your location, kingston boy? It could be blight if there's any in your area.

We had a good old conflab and our ex Monsato consultant reckons not. We all belong to blight watch and have not received a warning from them. Its quite strage that they go black in places and then get stunted before looking drained tho. My poly tunnel ones have escaped due to keepig the thing closed i spose

I know that black leg only affects potatoes, not others in the same plant family, but I wonder whether there is a similar disease for tomatoes?

If it's the same thing that's happened to one of mine this year then I think it's either white fly or a similar insect. Luckily I still have other tomatoes alive and well. The plant is still alive though just weak looking and I feed them all the same with compost tea so it has no excuse to be purpley. If it's not an insect then what could it be? just a dodgy seed?

Sorry, Munchkin but whitefly don't afftect plants in this way and dodgy seeds neither.

More likely to be a stem rot,  I suspect

Yes that's it! just googled. I guess it's too much watering.
