I have a new cordon apple, planted this spring in a pot, 2 meter high. I have found what I need to know about pruning the laterals but have seen nothing about pruning the main leader, if at all.

Can any one advice please

i would really recommend the rhs book on this. I have it and know my stuff on  espaliers, fan and open bush.

Just read it cut all laterals to one leaf to create fruit bearing spurs.

the book has pictures to show where to cut - the rhs website might help.

As I said in my post, I know about the laterals, its the leading growth that I am enquiring about.
