Growing potatoes
« on: May 02, 2011, 21:35 »
I'm quite new to all this - first got the allotment last year and now have potatoes coming up well. weather forecast looks as if it will be cold - 4 degrees tomorrow night ,so am wondering whether I should cover them with fleece as a precaution. Couldn't bear for them to get damaged after all the hard work and joy in seeing them comeup. Any advice welcome.
THANKS

Definitely worth covering them up, or earthing them up if you can.

Whereabouts are you?

I'm in north Cumbria and we're forecast +2 for the next couple of nights. Still cold enough to do some damage but I managed to get most of the tatties fleeced tonight but not an easy task in these winds.
