More frosts and cold weather due

Read in one of the dailies (if it is to be believed) we are due from more cold weather, together with frosts and even snow on high ground, at the weekend.

Will anyone be covering over the plants already out and hardened off?

Oh the joy of living in the tropics, we have been forcasted min day temps of 10 and night lows of 3. Now where is my factor 25

This often happens at this time. It is known a a "Blackthorn Winter". The cold easterly winds will persist now until the blosson on the blackthorn starts to wither.

And when does that happen? roughly

I think/hope  Metcheck is having a funny turn  .............it is forecasting 3s and 4s during the day for the next few days here and minuses at night

Sorry.......Just checked again and those figures are for days 7-14 not 'the next few days'.
Still a bit worrying if they are right though. ....the dining room will be completely out of bounds with all the stuff that will have to go in there

A Blackthorn Winter is the last puff of winter before Spring proper, (the first swallows were reported last week), and lasts until the next rain, I believe.
     

We were getting frosts forecast for Monday night onwards here, but on the bright side,  I think the volcanic ash cloud might keep them off ...
