marrowfat peas
« on: March 12, 2010, 19:20 »
Hi All,
I've just eaten some tinned marrowfat peas (yes I know but I do loves them ) with my fish.
I got to thinking about doing my own,
does anyone know what variety of pea would be best to grow and dry for marowfat/mushy peas ?
I'm banned for being obnoxious (not pompous as you might have thought)

The pea you need is Maro. I got mine from T&M. Its my first year of growing them.

Thanks Tatty A,  I didn't look at T&M and suttons didn't appear to come up with anything,
Has anyone else grown this variety?

Hi Mr. Isaacs I have found Maro on Marshall website they are £1.85 for a 18ft row plus delivery. The tin cans to put them in is easier you can find them in yours or a neighbours wheelie bin.  :)

Thanks Lady Lupin I'll have a look at Marshalls and T&M
think I'll forget the wheelie bin idea though :), freezer bags and old margarine tubs will do fine me thinks ;)
