How Often
« on: January 05, 2010, 14:24 »
I've had my greenhouse for about 4 years now, this is my 5th.

I've never changed the soil in the borders just topped it up with compost and blood fish and bone.
My crops always do well (even though i do tend to overplant) i was just wondering how often everyone else changes the soil in theirs, and if it is (nesesary "totally spelt that wrong")

Never Eat Cheese, Eat Salmon Sandwiches And Raspberry Yoghurt.............was the one I learnt at school.........it's funny how they stick in your mind :D

I dig out a few shovelfulls from the places the toms went, every year, and replace with soil from outside and a bit of compost.
Or you could use growbags with slits in the bottom for the 'water' roots to grow through into the soil........forget where I saw that suggestion now...anyhow, just a thought :)

Coffee with 2 sugars

Depends what you've been growing Stompy but if say you've had tomatoes in the same border every summer for 4 years, I think you would do well to dig it out and replace the top soil.
