I planted out Winter Density and Rouge de L'Hiver seedlings and put a cloche on them!!! Stupid me...they're hardy.... and my spare plants still in the trays outside are much bigger and darker green. The butternut needs cold to turn red.
Question is...it's now got cold...will I kill them if I remove the cloche?

I'm not sure to be honest, but could you acclimatise them?  Say, take the cloche off during the day and put it back on at night for a few days?  I guess you have nothing to lose.
